This Lalizas winch handle is only one year old! As can clearly be seen from the photos it is already severely corroded. The locking mechanism jammed after about 3 months…
I’ve used this winch handle on my port side genoa winch. During the same period I’ve been using a much older Lewmar winch handle on the starboard genoa winch. So both handles have been used in exactly the same conditions. The Lewmar winch handle has not corroded, or indeed changed much in appearance. Overall it is in very good condition for a winch handle that I suspect is 10 years old… Lewmar handles are about three times more expansive than the Lalizas ones, but there is a great contrast in the quality of the products.
Lalizas winch handle are not really fit for use in a marine environment and as such are not fit for purpose.
Verdict: Buy cheap, buy twice
